Kickin' Kolaches is currently in soft-opening mode in Suite 159, meaning the hours are still being worked out and the phone line is text-only while the team figures out how much dough to make each morning. The shop specializes in Texas-style kolaches made with organic flour and butter from grass-fed cows, filled with things like hot link and jalapeño, and it is currently running Wednesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., closing early if it sells out. It started as a pop-up before landing a permanent spot at the mall, which is a fairly common path for a lot of what has opened here recently.

The mall's directory lists Suite 159 as "coming soon," the same status shown for Riiya Noodle House in Suite 171 and Mega Looma Epic Adventure Park, the 35,000-square-foot family play space slated for Suite 116. A recent WhatNow Los Angeles report described Mega Looma as slated to open later this year. Kickin' Kolaches is already open; Riiya Noodle House and Mega Looma are not.

Two Businesses, One Owner, Different Speeds

Mega Looma is the work of Gloria Lee, who also owns Looma Space, an indoor children's playground in Lomita, and who opened Sugo Social at the Promenade in 2025. Sugo Social is already up and running on the second level, serving New American fare with a few fusion touches. The name is meant to work two ways at once, meaning "you did a great job today" in Korean and "sauce" in Italian.

Sugo Social moved from idea to seated dinner service in a matter of months, while Mega Looma has remained in build-out for well over a year.

The practical version of a weeknight plan looks something like this: dinner at Terra Mia or Pho Redbo, dessert at Fika Fika, then either a movie at Regal Promenade Stadium 13 or a game at Level Up Bowl & Bistro. None of that required leaving the mall's footprint, which was not really true here a few years ago when the directory was still heavier on apparel than food.

October brings Dogtoberfest, the garden's dog-friendly fall event that has become an annual fixture. And every month, without exception, the last Sunday is set aside as a dedicated Dog Walking Hours session across the garden's 87 acres, with water stations set up along the paths and an optional obedience class available for anyone who wants it.
